Luck
Spain has this Christmas lottery every, well, Christmas and it’s a high-roller arrangement, for sure. Tickets are 20 Euros, but the prize is about a billion Euros so I’m told.
Well there’s this town in Catalunya called “Sort,” which means luck, and possibly their biggest source of income is lottery tickets, because everyone wants to buy a ticket there. As a result (now here’s a chicken-egg situation), more than 30 winning tickets have been sold in Sort.
Some students in my program split the cost of a lottery ticket in Sort and joined the big holiday game. Apparently, though, they wouldn’t get the billion even if they won - Spanish ciitzenship is required.
Eh, minor details.
